Deal will see the Frenchman at Munich at least until 2015

Bayern Munich star player Franck Ribery has penned a new long term contract extending it with another five years and effectively ending much rumored speculations of his leaving Allianz Arena.

The Frenchman’s future has been on the headlines for much of the last season with top clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester United in England and Barcelona and Real Madrid in Spain all said to want his signature.

The highly rated winger has however opted to commit his future at Munich until 2015 having helped his club win the German double and reaching Europe’s top acme to fight it out with Inter Milan at the Champions League finals in the Santiago Bernabeu, Spain.

Bayern Munich’s chairman, in hailing the long term signing said, “”We are very pleased that one of the best players in the world has agreed to a contract extension. This is also a sign of the great objectives of FC Bayern in the coming years,”

Ribery has been instrumental in Bayern’s season, scoring 30 goals this season with many more assistants. He however missed the Champions League final through suspension and was clearly missed as his team fell down to Mourinho’s genius.

He has repeatedly said of his satisfaction with life at Munich and of his comfort at the club and has never openly asked to leave even with the widespread expectations that he would leave the club this summer.

He had one more year left to his contract and Bayern was keen to have him tied to a long contract to ward off his potential suitors.
